Malaica hotel understands that climate change is a cause for alarm both for its competitive advantage as well as for the planet as a whole. The hotel wants bold actions in order to be a class above. It has, therefore, reviewed its mission statement by including one of its goals to decarbonise its operations and adopt green-energies.

Malaica hotel is a 4-star hotel with 100 rooms, 3 restaurants and kitchens, 1 laundry outlet attached to the housekeeping department, 2 swimming pools, a spa and other entertainment activities like the gym, and the quad biking in the vast acres of land surrounding the hotel.

Besides, the hotel has an ambitious plan of increasing its rooms' occupancy to 150. It has the project to either add another storey to its existing building or use the land on the hotel complex by cutting down the trees thereon.

You have been assigned as the Project Manager of Malaica hotel to review its decarbonising strategy by 2020. 

Explain why Malaica hotel needs to have a clear understanding of its property CO2 emissions and how would you proceed with your project of energy efficiency in pursuing this goal for improvement? 

In your opinion, how should Malaica hotel mitigate these CO2 emissions to achieve energy efficiency?
