Why is the CO2 concentration in Earth's atmosphere increasing? Use the bathtub analogy to explain your answer.
Now, I know you are thinking - 'That is a silly question, the answer is obviously human CO2 emissions'. However, that is only part of the answer - emissions (what type? what rates?) are only one part of the story. The contribution from human emissions fits into a complex system of carbon sinks and sources.
Bathtub simulation (MIT v.1): https://systemdynamics.mit.edu/ghg-exercise/welcome.htm
Play with the first exercise of the following 'stock and flow' simulation: MIT Stock and Flow Simulation v.1. The first page of the simulation uses a simple example of water flowing into and out of a bathtub to provide a nice illustration of 'stock' (the water in the bathtub) and 'flow' (the inputs and outputs from the bathtub)
Two protein kinases, PK1 and PK2, work sequentially in intracellular signaling pathway. You construct cells that contain inactivating mutations in the genes that encode either PK1 or PK2
A dominant gene (+) produces yellow flowers in a certain plant species and its recessive allele (w) produces white flowers.
What are genotypes of the adult that were crossed. 0 percent of a population died from sunburn, of the 10 percent who died 10 individuals were albino and the rest were split evenly between heterozygous (Gg) and dominant individuals (GG). So my questi..
Discuss how it is that directional selection on quantitative traits can produce populations with trait distributions beyond what any parental generation had even without any new mutations creating new alleles.
The electrophoresis buffer is composed of a pH buffer and 25mM glycine. The molecular mass of glycine is 75.07. We needed 7.5L . How much glycine was added to the buffered solution to make the electrophoresis buffer.
Assume you identify a recessive mutation in the AP endonuclease in yeast. During the diploid phase of their lifecycle, the yeast are viable but haploid strains die rapidly.
