Online group discussion participation
Assessment 2B includes:
a reflective summary
appendices including
x2 discussion board posts
copies of presentation slides
Assessment 2A - Preparation and planning (brainstorming your ideas not assessed - non - weighted) - Enter the discussion within 48hours of opening date.
This assessment provides you with the opportunity to build upon the short case review you selected for assessment (1) one. You will be allocated to a discussion group (planning area discussion board) with approximately 10 students per group. Negotiate with your group members a topic based on the themes from Module 2 (Diagnostic evaluation) which applies to your case review. Choose a different topic from your group members so that each student has the opportunity to learn a different aspect of a cancer and diagnostic work up. Examples of individual topic choices for each student can be found in the Assessment resources folder.
Following the discussions with your peers you then develop, design and present a narrated presentation (all information in MyLO - please check the Assessment Resources section).
Narrated presentations are to be a minimum of 15 minutes and a maximum of 20 minutes containing a minimum of 7 to a maximum of 10 slides (including references).
The narrated presentation (example word document template in MyLO) must include:
Title and name.
Case review overview- chosen patient's diagnosis, subtype.
Body of presentation- Diagnostic method and workup and staging.
Links nurse's role in supporting patients through this process.
Use of Graphics and illustrations to compliment literature where relevant.
Use current evidenced based literature.
Reference list.
The 'Presentation Area + Assessed Discussion Board' will open for your group to post and respond to the presentations . You must submit your presentation and lecture recording link within 48hours of opening date.
When uploading your presentation, start a new discussion thread in your allocated group discussion board. Other group members will view the presentation and then provide a critiqued discussion around that topic.
Students are required to comment/respond to a minimum of 5 threads. A suggested word count of 100 words per response. Your best 2 responses are to be submitted with your Assessment 2B MyLO submission.
It is your responsibility to be familiar with the technology (Information in MyLo), however additional support will be available in the technical question s discussion board.
Resources to assist you in this task, including the marking rubric, are available in the 'assessment resources' folder in the unit content.
Assessment 2B: Reflective summary
Following the closure of the on line discussion and narrated presentation, you are required to submit a reflective summary paper which identifies the key learning points that you have gained from your discussions with your group members.
Using a reflective practice framework explore the experience and what you have learnt through this process.
Ideas for consideration:
learning which may have arisen from your review of the presentations
key discussions that arose with your group member's topics
any further questions that arose from your topic with your group members made;
outline how you will now integrate this knowledge into your practice.
critically reflect on the topic/s and its application into your practice setting.
You must also include a copy for marking of your presentation slides + 2 transcripts of your best discussion threads.
Resources to assist you in this task, including the marking rubric, are available in the 'assessment resources ' folder in the unit content.
