Question

PICOT problem is focusing on improving RN to CNA communication in delegation report. Communication from the registered nurse to the nursing assistants includes "daily care, ambulating, bathing, and feeding. other typical responsibilities of the nursing assistant include collecting vital signs and blood sugar checks along with other tasked delegated by the RN" (Campbell et al., 2021). When there is a lack in communication research has shown it ultimately leads to "poor outcomes for patients" (Campbell et al., 2021). My original idea for this PICOT project was RN to CNA report at the bedside but after discussing with my coworkers on my floor they felt it was not something that would be attainable with the how the assignments are split between RN and CNA'S. What we did acknowledge were resources we currently have that are not being used properly or at all at times. Everyone agreed there was a lack of communication between RN to CNA'S and we wanted to find a way to improve it. Currently we as nurses on my unit fill out a CNA report sheet with delegating task to be completed during the day. Along with the sheets patients have white boards that should be updated with.
