This practical assignment will help you understand how data migration occurs in the environment of cloud computing. It is more of a lab practical. You will be required to follow some instructions to carry out some practical work and answer given questions accordingly. The main focus of this assignment is Data Migration in Cloud Computing.

Part 1 -

Q1. What type of hypervisor is VirtualBox? Explain why?

Q2. You have to build a 2nd virtual server and name it "CentOS_serverB". Follow the previous instructions for creating a new VM and installing CentOS on it. Allocate 2 GB RAM & 5 GB as the amount of memory, to be used by the virtual disk, to "CentOS_serverB". As a proof, paste the screenshot, showing "CentOS_serverB" listed in the left pane of VirtualBox, like the screenshot showing "CentOS_serverA", in Figure 7.

Q3. Log in to "CentOS_serverB" and change its hostname to "serverB" (or any name you like) by using the command, shown above. Paste the screenshot, showing the changed hostname in the terminal of the 2nd virtual server, like the screenshot showing the hostname "serverA" (Figure 15).

Q4. The same changes have to be made to the ifcfg file of serverB. Add the following details to the ifcfg file of serverB & save & exit the file by following the method, explained previously.

IPADDR=192.168.1.6

NETMASK=255.255.255.252

GATEWAY=192.168.1.1

Don't forget to change "ONBOOT=no" to "ONBOOT=yes". Also, change "BOOTPROTO=dhcp" to "BOOTPROTO=static" because we are using static IP addresses. Also, bring up the network interface too, when you restart serverB after making all the changes.

As both serverA and serverB have been assigned IP addresses, they should be able to communicate with each other. Use the "ping" command on both serverA and serverB and paste the following screenshots below.

Q5. What does the command, "passwd", do? What type of command is it? Show a screenshot of its usage below.

Q6. Using the command "vi", add some text to these files & save the changes. Show the following screenshots.

a) Screenshot of data added to the 1st file (in my case, it is abc.txt). Also, specify the name of your 1st file.

b) Screenshot of data added to the 2nd file (in my case, it is xyz.txt). Also, specify the name of the 2nd file.

Q7. Using "scp" to copy the 2nd file (in my case, it is "xyz.txt") to your 2nd virtual server or serverB. Paste the screenshot of the execution, like Figure 28, below.

Part 2 -

Q1. Paste the screenshots of the results of these commands & show the presence of the text files in your "/home" directory.

a) Result of the command "ls"

b) Result of the command "ls -lhrt"

c) What is the difference between these 2 commands?

Q2. Change the directory to "/opt". Using the commands in Part 1, make a directory/folder named "Files2" in /opt. Attach the screenshot below.

Q3. Change the directory to "/home" & move both text files to "/opt" by using the command "mv". An example has been shown below, for the 1st file.

Paste the screenshot, showing the execution of "mv" command on the 2nd file (in my case, it is "xyz.txt").

Q4. Now, change the directory to /opt. Move your text files to "Files2" and paste the screenshots below.

Q5. Change the directory to "Files2". Now, list or show the contents of "Files2" by using the commands shown in Q1 of Part 2. Use the command which shows more details. Paste the screenshot of the files contained in "Files2".
