A black woman comes to an appointment with her usual primary care provider that she has had for the last 15 years. When she gets to the exam room, she is greeted by Dr. Domingo, a Fillapina intern, who is not her usual doctor. The patient says, "You aren't a real doctor. You're too young. I want someone who can speak English." When Dr. Domingo leaves the exam room, she shares the incident with her attending physician. Her attending, an older white woman, says, "As a woman of color in medicine, you're going to have to get used to that."
