History of present illness: Mr. Vin is a 63-year-old carpenter who comes to the clinic complaining of pain in the calves of both legs. He says that the pain does not radiate into his thighs or buttocks. He does not report losing control of his bowel or bladder function. He has had the pain for five years; it gets worse with walking and goes away when he sits down and rests. The pain is worsening from 3/10 to 8/10 over the past three weeks. Mr. Vin has a 20-year history of hypercholesterolemia and has been taking medication for the past 10 years. He has a 30-year history of hypertension, treated with medication.
