A pediatric client presents to the ED with wheezing and chest tightness. The client has a history of asthma. The parent states that the rescue inhaler did not resolve the symptoms as it usually does, so they came to the ED. The respiratory assessment shows shallow breathing with wheezing in all lobes and nasal flaring. The PEFR is 65%. The peak flow diary that the parent has brought in shows that the client has an average PEFR of 90%. Vitals: T 98.2 °F (36.8 °C), P 74 beats per minute, RR 50 breaths per minute, O2 saturations 88% on room air 1019: The health care provider has prescribed a nebulizer treatment with a bronchodilator.
