Case Study 1

Norm is a 45 year old man who has had 2 appointments with you to date. In these sessions he has presented as a ‘happy go lucky’ man with seemingly not a care in the world. Today he presents very emotionally distressed but explains that he is unsure exactly what is upsetting him.

Outline how you could use motivational interviewing to support Norm to identify the cause of his distress and put in place strategies for change.
