Question

Stella and Tim's first child, Clementine does not have a rare autosomal disorder known as ogre feet despite hearing rumors that one of her uncles on her mother's side had horrid ogre feet. In talking to her (maternal) grandmother, she found that neither of her (maternal) grandparents had the affliction (you can ignore her paternal grandparents). Clementine also knows that her parents and aunt (her mom's sister) were normal. Clementine grows up and goes to college. Concerned about her carrier status for ogre feet, she decides to undergo carrier testing for the Fo allele, and urges her brother, Joe, to do the same. The restriction enzyme PstII does not cut within the Fn (normal) allele, but the ogre mutation creates a cut site 300bp into the 1000bp ogre-foot gene.
