Question

A 55-year-old woman, N. A. has chronic renal failure and severe anemia. She has lived in Canada for about 10 years after moving here from Kenya with her adult son. Her hemoglobin and hematocrit levels are low. She is a Jehovah's Witness and is refusing blood transfusions but is agreeable to transfusion replacement strategies. The healthcare team explain that they are not certain recovery is possible due to her renal failure without a blood transfusion. N.A. still refuses despite her son trying to convince her otherwise.
