1. Companies that look to gain information from their competitors by offering a position that does not exist, violate the Judeo-Christian religious view of ethics of treating others as you wish to be treated (Parnell, 2008). While these companies may look at this type of behavior as strategizing, it is an unethical way to conduct business.

The practice of interviewing managers of the competitor with no intention of hiring them may be supported by other ethical views such as the utilitarian view of ethics. This view suggests that consequences and outcomes should be considered, but not necessarily followed (Parnell, 2008). The Self-interest view of ethics may also support this behavior, as this view suggests the benefit of the decision maker should be of prime consideration (Parnell, 2008). Although these managers may feel that because they are operating business within the laws, that this behavior is acceptable, it is still not ethical.

2. The line between social responsibility and managerial ethics can be difficult to draw, as what may be considered by some to be a socially irresponsible form of behavior (Parnell,2008). With the Judeo-Christian religious view of ethics those views are based on religious conviction. The basic premise if how you treat others is exactly how you want to be treated.

A company which only practices on what best serves the management team would contradict the religious view. Interviewing another company's executive for nonexistent position, to merely attempt to find information on their competitor and possibly lure them away. They would not like it if another company did that to them. There is a sense of integrity in the today's business world. Judeo-Christian religious views offers a balanced and pragmatic approach to a number of concrete ethical issues in the workplace (Rae & Wong,1996).

This practice would best be demonstrated by the self-interest view of ethics because its serving the purpose of the executives and higher management team. It does not benefit the entire company nor the company by trying to lure the executive away.
