Choosing a Data Integration Type

In the Application Assignment in Unit 2, you created a database for your small retail store. Though business has been good, you decide to merge your company with another small store to lower prices and increase sales.

Your original company's database was created using MySQL. The company you merged with stores their data in an Oracle database. An enterprise view of all the information-both current and future-is needed. Some of the concerns are:

  • Accurate data availability
  • Duplication of reports
  • Consistency between databases
  • Maintenance
  • Cost to integrate

Based on the first letter of your last name, one of the following four roles is assigned to you:
