1. Choose one of the following chapters to focus upon for this part of the assignment: "The child as meaning maker: making sense of the physical world" (chapter 2) OR "The child as meaning maker: making sense of the social world" (chapter 3).
2. Choose ONE theorist - either Piaget or Vygotsky. Critically reflect on the theory and attempt to link the theory to your own cultural context. If the theory links well, explain why. If the theory does not link well, explain why. Give examples.
REMEMBER: The point of the assignment is to show your understanding of theory and culture. Piaget and Vygotsky's theories are very prominent in Western culture; however, this does not mean that these theories are relevant around the world. In some ways the theories may link very well and in others, not at all. Please see what you might discover!
