First. you will choose a current issue that is debated publicly, either locally or larger state or national arena. Make sure that this is a complex issue rather than a simple problem. Next, you will choose three different sources about the issue you have selected. Look for sources that are on all sides of the issue: for, against. neutral. After you have found your sources, you will use the CARS model to describe the sources. Who is the audience for the source? What is the claim of the author(s)? What is some general information from the source? What types of research are reviewed/cited? How does the author(s) establish a niche (indicate which of the four reviewed)? And how does the author(s) occupy that niche? Your analyses should be approximately one page per source. You will create your references page later, but be sure to include some details about your sources such as titles, who wrote them, and when.
