Choose and discuss two examples of the treaties, wars, and/or laws that allowed for the expansion or settlement of the US's territory from the 1860s to the early-1900s. For each of the examples you chose, what was one effort to reform those living in the territory into citizens? For each of the examples that you chose, what was one effect of this gain or settlement of land on ideas of US nationalism or identity?
