Select an automated societal function and evaluate risks associated with that function. Sample topics would include:

• tsunami warning - who to contact and how,
• computer glitches and lab test result reporting, and
• computer overload and the Comair shutdown.

Requirements:

Your paper must fully explore the topic and identify various options of how to proceed and resulting negative aspects. It must clearly identify the limitations, restrictions, or the assumptions that you make. You must use relatively current reference material to support your paper. You can use any method of identifying your sources (footnotes, endnotes etc.). A complete bibliography of resources used must also be included. Your paper must have at least six reference documents (books, journals, papers or the like).

All of the issues may have positive and negative aspects as they apply to the function. Adequate justification to fully explore and evaluate your chosen function cannot be assured in less than 12 typewritten pages (double spaced for ease of reading, Times Roman, 12 pt. font, 1 inch margins) exclusiveof figures, graphs, tables, and footnotes or bibliography pages.
