Chlorophyll is a green pigment in leaves and stems. Chlorophyll is a light absorbing pigment, and comes of green to us because of the green light reflecting and minimally absorbed. There are two different types of chlorophyll used in plants and that is chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b, which absorbs violet, blue, and red light. The amount of chlorophyll in leaves slowly disintegrates because of the change in temperature in the plants throughout the seasons. Light energy is passed by chlorophyll molecules to the center of photosystem II as it energizes the central chlorophyll molecule. It becomes so energized that it is passed along another chain to photosystem I, then sent to the central chlorophyll molecule called photosynthesis which is how plants connect sunlight into usable chemical energy (Study.com, 2017).
