Question

A 4 year old child complains of nighttime leg pain that resolves. This has occurred for past months. The nurse practitioner should tell the patient's guardians that These are growing pains that last from 1-2 years. This is a common complaint in this age group. This complaint is typical of Legg-Calve-Perthes disease. However it is a disease that is not common in this age group This pain is typical in association with juvenile arthritis. Blood work will confirm the diagnosis. The pain is likely secondary to excessive leg movements caused by night terrors.
