Friedman and Roseman (1974) have suggested that personality type is related to heart disease. Specifically, type A people, who are competitive, driven, pressured, and impatient, are more prone to heart disease. On the other hand, type B individuals, who are less competitive and more relaxed, are less likely to have heart disease. Suppose that an investigator would like to examine the relationship between personality type and disease. For a random sample of individuals, personality type is assessed with a standardized test. These individuals are then examined and categorized as to whether they have a heart disorder. The observed frequencies are as follows:
No Heart Disease

Is there a relationship between personality and disorder? Test at the .05 level of significance.
Assuming the nurses surveyed were a random sample from the population of all nurses in the United States, we can use these data to test the null hypothesis H0 that there is no association between the row and column variables in this two-way table...
Ten students were sampled at random from a student population. Each was asked how many courses he or she was planning on studying in the upcoming year. The following is a list of the reported data values: 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 5, 5, 6 What is the vari..
Determine the estimated population mean?
If we fit the least-squares line to the 12 data points (one for each month) we obtain the following results from a software package. Notice that temperature is taken as the explanatory variable and crawling age as the response.
Explain the value of test statistic using t distribution for the given value. Illustrate value of the t test statistic if you are testing a hypothesis.
At the .05 significance level, is there a difference in the mean number of calls per day between the two employees?
We are interested in determining whether or not the opinions of the individuals (as to Yes, No, and No Opinion) are uniformly distributed.
In 1965, a newspaper carried a story about a high school student who reported getting 9207 heads and 8743 tails in 17,950 coin tosses. Is this a significant discrepancy from the null hypothesis H 0 = 1/2.
