PART 1: For this part, choose a medium rise project that you are required to undertake demolition work on.
1. Take photographs of each stage of the demolition of the structure and detail below how the demolition has been undertaken in accordance with legislative and planning requirements for demolition work. 2. Describe the safe work practices that you put in place during the demolition of the structure. Upload copies of the safe work practices used as evidence.
PART 2: For this part, choose a medium rise project that you are constructing.
3. Refer to the building plans and specifications and identify the main structural principles that apply to the construction of this building. Document these in the space below. Upload your plans and specifications here.
4. Based on the specifications and building plans, identify and analyse the performance characteristics of the structural elements and materials specified. Explain how these are then applied to the planning of the construction work.
5. You are required to check the set out of footings for the building against the requirements in the building plans. Upload photographs of the site and the footings that show how they have been set out according to the building plans. For each photograph, explain how the footings have been set out in accordance with the building plans.
6. Assess the structural integrity of the footings specified in the building plans for compliance with the relevant codes and construction principles. In the space below, explain how you did this and the outcome of the assessment. Upload evidence of this.
7. Once the footings are laid, document how you checked that they were laid as specified in the plans and specification documentation. Take a video recording of you checking the footings against the project documentation. Upload this video with this assessment booklet when you submit it to your assessor. Also ensure that the relevant project documentation is uploaded for evidence.
8. Explain how the damp coursing and provision of termite barriers was planned and implemented on the site. Take and upload photographs of each step that you undertook to check the implementation of the damp coursing and the provision of termite barriers and explain what was involved in the checking of that stage. Attach any other relevant documentation as evidence.
9. Explain in detail how you checked the implementation of damp coursing and the provision of termite barriers against the NCC and the Australian standards.
10. Identify the processes for the construction of structural elements from the building plans and specifications and confirm that they are compliant with the relevant Australian standards and NCC and manufacturers specifications.
11. Describe how you have ensured that the processes of construction for the structural elements have been implemented correctly. Take photographs to provide evidence that each has been constructed correctly and upload the photographs to this assessment booklet.
12. Describe how you have ensured that appropriate allowances have been made for plumbing, electrical conduits and other services to be installed when constructing the building according to the plans, specifications and the relevant codes and standards. For each service, provide photographic evidence of how the allowances have been made and reference these photographs in the description below. Attach the photographs to this assessment booklet as evidence.
13. Reflect on any faults or problems that occurred during the construction and identify the action that you took to rectify them.
