Explain An oral history was done to see what advancements and changes had occurred int eh nursing field in Singapore. It is interesting to see that at the very beginning nursing was a career that did not really have any formal education (Hoon et al., 2023). There were accounts of nurses having to learn their roles on the job and not really being given time to train (Hoon et al., 2023). It wasn't until 1949 that the Nursing Registration Ordinance was passed in Singapore the required all nurses be registered and admitted through an examination (Hoon et al., 2023). And this is also pointed out that nursing unfortunately did not hold a lot of autonomy, and instead it was more of following orders that were being given (Hoon et al., 2023). This has definitely changed with time since nurses are now part of the interdisciplinary team that decides the course of treatment for patients. Seeing as nurses spend the most time with patients, they are the ideal person to observe what works best for patients and what could be a hinderance.
