The American Medical Association has proposed establishing a state medical board to discipline physicians and resolve medical malpractice claims. Under this proposal, which has not been adopted in any state so far, the board would have authority to change some legal rules pertaining to medical malpractice, limit attorney fees, and use guidelines to promote consistency in damage awards.
