Part 2:

Change management within the context of project management is a process that changes the scope of a project and the steps required to implement these changes. This process ensures that the predetermined requirements will still be produced based on what was agreed upon during the planning process. Change is inevitable within any team setting and/or project and change management provides a structured method to properly manage the unexpected and remain in control of the project. Enacting change without a proper strategy can result in a decrease in productivity and efficiency, lack of direction and frustrated team members. With the potential of projects becoming stagnate, it is critical to utilize this tool to maintain momentum and ensure the workmanship remains at a high quality. When the changes are implemented properly it ensures team members understand their roles and responsibilities, provides a better guarantee that finances are secure and enables leaders to better facilitate the project. The application of change management affects every level of the organization and it is imperative to use these effective techniques to produce a successful project.

Change management ensures that the project delivers what was agreed upon during the planning process making it an important steps in the project planning process. The scope is measured against the requirements to ensure that everything is schedule. Because there can be unexpected delays in the project there is a need for change management to correct these difference between the requirements and the scope. If the scope does not match the requirements a change management should be out into place. Change management has the potential to affect the entire project and can cause a disturbance in work flow that trickles down to every level of the project. Because of this effect it is important that the change management is handled with care and sensitivity. Change management is an important step to correct any inconsistencies in the scope of the project and get everything back on schedule for the project to be completed by the predetermined deadline and ensure that the team is aware of these changes and can correct their actions to reflect the desired outcome.
