At Valley Hospital, nurses beginning a new shift report to a central area to receive their primary patient assignments. Not every nurse is as efficient as another with particular kinds of patients. Given the following patient roster, care levels, and time estimates, 1) assign nurses to patients to optimize efficiency. Also, 2) determine how long it will take for the nurses to complete their routine tasks on this shift.

Patient A. Jones: Care Level A2, Time Required to Complete Routine Tasks; Nurse 1 – 3 hours, Nurse 2 – 5 hours, Nurse 3 – 4 hours, Nurse 4 – 3 hours.

Patient B. Hathaway: Care Level B2, Time Required to Complete Routine Tasks; Nurse 1 – 2 hours, Nurse 2 – 1 hours, Nurse 3 – 3 hours, Nurse 4 – 2 hours.

Patient C. Bryant: Care Level B1, Time Required to Complete Routine Tasks; Nurse 1 - 3 hours, Nurse 2 - 4 hours, Nurse 3 - 2 hours, Nurse 4 - 2 hours.

Patient D. Sweeney: Care Level A1, Time Required to Complete Routine Tasks; Nurse 1 - 4 hours, Nurse 2 - 3 hours, Nurse 3 - 3 hours, Nurse 4 - 4 hours.
