The Democratic Party wants to raise capital gains taxes, arguing that doing so will help reduce the deficit and provide funding for important government programs. The Republican Party wants to lower capital gains taxes, arguing that lower taxes will encourage investment, which will in turn provide a more stable economy for both businesses and individuals.
