While there are many argumentative differences in the beliefs between Christianity and Atheism on how the universe was created, both parties may agree on the Big Bang theory. Atheists believe in the science aspect to how the Big Bang may have happened, while Christians believe God himself created the Big Bang or created the whole universe in six days and rested on the seventh day. The major difference between the opposing beliefs may lead to the definition of, "What is our Purpose?". This causes people to live completely different lifestyles. Christians may live a life to fulfill God and without sin, and Atheists may live with more science driven beliefs with no belief of a higher power.

Atheism and Christianity agree that the universe had a beginning, but disagree on how the universe began. Atheism holds to the scientific view that the universe began with the Big Bang, while Christianity holds to the belief that the universe was created by God (Bloch, 2009). Beliefs about the origin of the universe can have a large impact on how a person lives their life. For example, someone who believes in a scientific explanation of the universe may approach problems differently than someone who believes in a religious explanation. In the scientific view, problems may be approached in a more analytical and logical way, while in the religious view, problems may be approached from a more spiritual perspective. Also, someone's belief in the origin of the universe may also shape their moral values and beliefs, as well as how they interact with others.
