Your client, Jemima, has limitations during her ADLs because of a chronic illness; this illness also causes her a lot of pain. When you meet with Jemima for the first time, she discloses that she has been abused by her former partner. To cope with the abuse, she started taking more and more of the painkillers that she was prescribed for the pain caused by her chronic illness. While you are there to help Jemima with her ADLs, she is wondering whether you can help her get the other services she needs. She tells you she needs to apply for a protection order to prevent her ex-partner from approaching her or her home. She also needs advice about the family law processes she will be facing over the next few months because she and her ex-partner have shared finances and she needs advice about how they should split their assets. Jemima also wants to stop misusing her medication and would like to access a specialist service to help with this.
