Assessment Task: A Case Study
Case Study: Panic on Queen Street (pre-sighted via Moodle)
Case study questions:
1. a. Analyse the motivation of Soo Park using McClelland's theory, Herzberg's theory or expectancy theory;
b. Identify examples of positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, punishment and extinction that appear to exist at ABC or provide examples that could exist in a business college of this nature; or
c. Analyse the motivation of Jasmine Singh using goal-setting theory or the job characteristics model.
2. Analyse how power and politics are affecting group dynamics at the college and comment on their sources/causes and consequences.
3. Explain the following concepts and apply them to the staff of ABC: emotional intelligence; emotional labour/display norms; emotional dissonance. For each concept, you can choose examples from the case study and/or examples that could arise in a business college such as ABC.
