Case Study - Monitor Resource Usage

You work as an Office Administrator in a real estate office, Perth Property Group. Activity in the property market has slowed and sales of properties by the Group's sales team have decreased by 25% over the last financial year. The property management team has also recorded a fall in revenue of 15%. Due to this situation, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is writing a resource management plan & budget forecast with a goal to decrease expenditure across the business.

One of your duties as an Office Administrator is to order and maintain the use of office consumables and equipment. You also order printed brochures and flyers from a printing business when needed for use by the sales team and information packs for the property management team to provide to potential landlords and tenants.

You have been asked to assist the CFO to record and monitor the usage and waste of office and printing supplies used within all departments and to provide feedback on the suppliers. You have also been asked to monitor the use of the two office printers and the photocopier that are owned by the business, which often require servicing and repairs. By the end of the next financial year, the CFO would like to reduce the expenditure on office and printing supplies by 20%. She also wants to complete a review of Service Agreements with the office suppliers and equipment repairers.
