1. Mr. Roads is a 70-year-old man who was admitted to an inpatient psychiatric unit after displaying behavioral aggression. Before his admission, he was screaming at anyone who came near him. During his admission, his neuropsychiatric medications were adjusted, and he became very docile and weak, he could no longer walk or feed himself, and he became wheelchair bound. He was discharged from the psychiatric unit and placed in a nursing home. The attending physician wrote an order for Mr. Roads to be admitted to a locked unit for his own safety and that of others. The nurse was concerned and mentioned the treatment plan in a team meeting. During the treatment meeting, the nurse presented her opinion that since Mr. Roads was weak and immobile, he no longer posed a threat to others, and therefore placing him in a locked unit was unnecessary.
