Hardee Transportation is a truckload carrier located in Ft. Worth, TX, with a central warehouse used as a dispatch center and occasional temporary storage. Jim O'Brien, president of Hardee, has a prospective customer, Global Bike Inc. (GBI) in Dallas with distribution centers in San Diego and Miami. Hardee has avoided the south Florida market because of the lack of backhaul opportunities but is now willing to make the move. Each pick-up at GBI-Dallas will consist of straight pallets (unit loads of one product) of various SKUs. Hardee will release a semi-truck from Ft. Worth, pick up at GBI-Dallas and then continue on to GBI-Miami. GBI uses a private fleet to ship to regional customers, so the Hardee tractor-trailer will deadhead home if they cannot find a backhaul.

Assume that Hardee must always deadhead home. Would you include those in the head haul move? explain.
