The Scenario
Global Insurance Services Co. Ltd. (GIS) has been one of the leading insurance companies in the industry for over 15 years. GIS product offerings include life, health, and property insurance. For the past three years, its employment turnover has risen by 25%. GIS has lost several key employees, and as a result, several of its major customers have moved their portfolios to other competing firms. Information gathered from exit interviews indicate that 70% of the employees who opted to leave GIS did so because: 1. Compensation packages were not competitive when compared to those of rival companies; and 2. The opportunities for promotions were limited, as GIS practice was to recruit externally because the company believed that was the best approach. GIS admits that its compensation policy has not been reviewed for almost five (5) years.
GIS believes that extending its product offering is a great strategy to regain a competitive advantage. With the expansion, some positions will be merged to avoid duplications and some new positions will be created.
GIS' mission statement is: To create peace of mind through reliable, affordable insurance
