Fairy Nail Artz
Fairy Nail Artz (FNA) is a small nail art shop opened in 2017 by two graduates Yan and Isha. Both Yan and Isha worked together during their university years and dreamed of opening their own store. Their dream came true when they converted their final year business idea into current business. They opened their very own shop in Sunway City. They chose this location as there are a number of private universities operating nearby the venue. Their shop is open 6 days a week, providing services such as Nail Art, Manicure and Pedicure, Acrylic nails, and Gel nails.
FNA's business became popular very quickly within the first year. Yan and Isha realize that they could find new customers and increase their sales by collecting, analyzing and use the data they have with them. However, being a business graduate, both Yan and Isha have little knowledge in Information Technology (IT). Since their business is still small, they have not explored any IT infrastructure to use in their shop. They are not sure how this can be done with a minimal cost.
With the competitive business environment, they feel they need to be technologically advanced. Since most of their customers are students from nearby universities, they need to find a way to gain a solid customer base and marketing strategy. They also learned that their customers prefer to do their nail art in smaller venues or with anyone offers the services from home as this is way cheaper. They need to strategically locate themselves in a marketplace to stay and further expand their business.
The recent Covid-19 pandemic and Movement Control Order (MCO) have affected their business, just like many other businesses. Being focused on students as their main customers, FNA struggled to sustain their business during the pandemic as most students studied remotely.
As businesses are allowed to open recently, Yan and Isha are looking into creating a website to sell some nail art related merchandise and use various online strategy to expand their market outreach. Nevertheless, they are afraid of various security issues like credit card fraud, and other security related problems that they might face.
To solve this, they have approached you to help them to answer their Information technology (IT) related questions and propose a solution to them. You are in your third year of university studies and required to develop a Information System (IS) solution as part of your final year project in your university. If you can convince Yan and Isha with your IS solution, they might offer you an employment by the time you graduate from your studies. Apart from that, this creates an opportunity for you to apply your text book knowledge into real world scenario.
