Case: Diminishing Services and Clients

Based on the information gathered in Electronic Medical Record software and business intelligence reports the CEO of Appleton Healthcare has noticed that the number of clients served in the organization's southwest outpatient location has slowly decreased during the past fiscal year. As a result of this data, the CEO is leaning towards closing the southwest location. However, the Vice President of Outpatient Services wants to keep the location open. The VP has tasked you to review the business intelligence reports and offer some causes for the drop in the number of services and clients and whether he should close or keep open the location. What is not shown in the report is that the VP's daughter is the manager of the southwest location.  

Analyze the Southwest Location Information sheet to determine at least three reasons what you think may be causing the decline in services and clients served. In your analysis please answer the following questions.

1. Describe the six elements of the basic decision-making process.
2. Utilizing the decision-making process, describe each reason and explain how each reason could/could not improve the number of client services.
3. Describe the no-decision option and what the ramifications of the no-decision would be on the organization.
4. Illustrate how you would communicate your recommendation to management and staff.
5. Describe the ethical situation the VP faces because their daughter works at the location.
6. Include in your conclusion a summary as to whether you advocate to keep the location open or agree with the CEO and close the location.
