Proctor and Gamble wants to know whether the percentage of American consumers who use dishwasher tablets has increased from its historical level of 33%. Proctor and Gamble surveys a random and representative sample of 1000 American consumers, and asks them whether they use dishwasher tablets. 350 out of 1000 use dishwasher tablets. It it has evidence that the proportion of American consumers who use dishwasher tablets has increased Proctor and Gamble will spend $500,000 expanding production of dishwasher tablets.
