Bill of Lading: M/V RajWile is a Jamaican bulk carrier operated by Bragga Ltd. The Master of M/V RajWile issued to the shipper a signed Bill of Lading for cargo taken onboard. On the document was the clause "weight, quantity, value and contents unknown". The shipper asked that the carrier removed the clause insisting that the relevant information regarding the cargo's weight, quantity, etc, was accurately provided. With reference to the Hague Visby Rules, you are required to advise both parties. In your advisory, establish whether they are in their rights, meaning, your answer such include, whether the carrier can include such a clause and can the shipper ask for the clause to be removed.
