Task - Career Development Services Implementation
This assessment task requires you to establish a Career Development Service. Specifically, this means that you are required to:
• collect, evaluate and use information to inform career development strategies, support systems and resources
• analyse, plan, implement and evaluate career development services, in accordance with legislative requirements, policies, guidelines and standards
• identify own professional development needs and complete required professional development activities
• determine the needs of specific target groups
• communicate with others to provide professional support and advocacy services
• Review and improve career development services, in consultation with other people.
For a specific target group. The target group may be based on:
• age
• career choices
• cultural background and needs
• employees
• employment status/role
• level of education achieved
• learners/students
• learning styles and preferences
• literacy and numeracy skills
• location
• predetermined service user group
• skill/competency profile
• socioeconomic background
And this will depend on your practice environment and areas of interest. The key deliverables for this assessment task are:
1. Profile of the target group and established need for Career Development Services. Explain why researching and understanding this target group is crucial in providing support on career development and career choices.
2. Overview of career development theories, models, frameworks and strategies as applicable to the selected target group target group.
3. Description of regulatory requirements, policies, guidelines, standards and resources as applicable to the selected target group target group.
4. Identification and description of all relevant stakeholders and professional peers and service providers.
5. Copy of all produced resources to be utilized for the provision of career development services.
6. Description of all support systems to be utilized.
7. Description of Quality management and control systems to be implemented, including:
• adequate resource needs of the counselling service
• capacity to offer a range of choices and advice
• careers counselling
• compliance with regulatory, professional and organisational standards
• effective conflict resolution
• identification and removal of any gaps in career counselling services
• negotiation, advocacy, enterprising, coaching and mentoring skills
• relevance, currency and appropriateness of services provided to individuals
• satisfaction of needs associated with a specific context and target group
8. Journal of career development services and Career development counselling provided.
9. A sample completed action plan as developed for one client.
10. Plans including:
• career development plan for an individual or group
• operational plan
• resource plan
• session plan Taking into account the:
• needs of target group
• resources required to access services (such as access to internet service providers, other technology or transport facilities)
11. 5 week review of services provided.
12. Summary of strategies to improve quality of career development services.
13. Append an outline organisational policies relating to career development.
