Children who are obese are becoming more prevalent in elementary schools at a rate that is consistent with a number of social health variables. They may include living in poverty, having only one parent, and having low caregiver education levels. Living in poverty-stricken conditions means there is unhealthy eating and gain of unhealthy weight. Poverty aligns with low social status and low income which turns into unhealthy food choices (Annor & Oudshoorn, 2019). The question would include is poverty led by low income and single parenthood affects obesity levels in children. and if the annual income is able to care for family members' health.
Educational attainment depends on access to education and income. Low education levels and literacy is linked to a lack of health knowledge in children and families. Little health knowledge will impact the steps that involve children's health and development-for example, physical activity and healthy living habits. Caretakers should have the knowledge too whereby questions if parents should help children engage in physical exercise and their positive effects on having scheduled physical development of their children.
Single-parent hood and low-income living may make it hard to manage families and children (Silver & Cronin, 2019). The focus on children and care for obese or overweight may be beyond concern. There is a need to look at children's health in all contexts. One question includes of family members should focus on obese and overweight children care and if the social environment challenges family children's health management.
An upstream approach to help promotes the Canadian community should include providing educational programs to help children learn about health benefits like physical activities and choice of healthy foods (Silver & Cronin, 2019). Despite low income, parents should seek other ways of making children healthy by avoiding fast foods, having healthy snacks, and participating in soccer, and dance as physical activities (Mason et al., 2019). Children can get to learn about choosing healthy lifestyles in their environment.
