Capstone Research Paper
The research paper should consider a problem or question in the candidate's focus area or area of interest with a clear purpose for the research and through investigation of previously published articles. The paper represents a cohesive understanding of the research topic by discussing results from scholarly articles to reach valid conclusions and determine future implications. The research paper must meet the writing standards of the American Psychological Association (APA Style) edition 7 and will illustrate the candidates' understanding of their selected topic. The research paper should clearly show how candidates have deepened their professional knowledge in their focus area or area of interest.
Objective: The research paper allows the candidate to show their ability to understand a specific topic using research. Candidates will be able to develop a proposition or hypothesis based on their focus area or interest. The final written paper will represent organization, clarity, understanding, and conclusional reflection. Candidates must demonstrate their ability to write with proper formatting and use appropriate and professional content, word usage, and grammar. They must show their understanding and knowledge of the topic.
The Capstone Research Paper formatting should be as follows:
• Cover Page
• Introduction
o The introduction should be the introduction to your paper.
o The introduction should contain main ideas related to your topic and explain the purpose of the paper.
• Literature Review
o The body of this paper should include the eight scholarly articles you have collected as citations.
o The literature review is a discussion of your topic and explains the articles you have selected and how they affect (what use they are to) your topic.
• Analysis
o The body of this paper should be a continuation on the foundation of your Literature Review. There should be no introduction or conclusion (as you have already written those).
• Conclusion
o A wrap-up of all of the information - reiteration of the main topic and the point of the paper.
• References
Capstone Research Paper Guidelines
The Capstone Research Paper should include your Title Page, Literature Review, Analysis, and References Page. The paper should be about twelve to thirteen pages, and that does not include the Title Page and References page.
The Capstone Research Paper formatting should be as follows:
