You manage a lab that studies cancer formation and find some interesting results. You are testing levels of gene expression for Rb1 in normal vs. cancerous cells and find that the mRNA levels detected by microarray are the same. However, when you measure the functional level of the protein RB1 (made from the Rb1 gene) you find that cancerous cells have ten times more functional protein than normal cells. 

Using your textbook and other resources (like the article linked above) describe one gene control mechanism that could lead to these results.

Note: Your answers don't need a lot of molecular detail. Briefly describe how the gene control mechanism works and link that to how it would lead to the results above. Your answer should also relate your description back to what we've learned about how you go from a gene to a functional protein (though it may go beyond that if you like).
