Prior to 1968, Canadian coins were made out of a mixture of 80% silver and 20% copper. From 1968 until 2000, Canadian coins were made out of nickel. Since 2000, they have been made from 94% steel and 3.8% copper with a nickel plate. Use Gresham's law to explain why we don't see pre-1968 coins in circulation.
