Question: Tom Brown is a legal assistant in a busy litigation firm. As Tom is walking in the door at 8:30 a.m., he passes Mike Walker, his supervising attorney, who is on his way to court to begin a trial. As they pass, Mike says to Tom, "I need a motion and a brief for the Jones case. I've left the file on your desk." Mike walks out the door and down the street to court.
