Question - You have been providing palliative care for a female client aged 76 year since she was brought to hospital after experiencing a major stroke. The client passed away during the night, in the company of her only son (who is her next of kin). The client had registered as an organ donor several years ago and has been identified as an appropriate donor for a corneal transplant. The client's son is unaware his mother registered as an organ donor and is very upset, saying 'I won't let you disfigure her'. Can the son override his mother's wishes? And how would you respond to the son?
