1) A normal workweek shall consist of forty (40) hours of five (5) days of eight (8) consecutive hours exclusive of lunch periods beginning with Monday and ending with Friday of each week. Starting time for the day shift shall not be earlier than 5:00 A.M. and not later than 8:00 A.M.; starting time for the second shift shall not be earlier than 1:00 P.M. and not later than 4:00 P.M.; starting time for the third shift shall not be earlier than 9:00 P.M. and not later than l2:00 midnights.

2) All work required before the regular starting time or after the regular quitting time of any shift shall be considered overtime and paid for at the rate of time and one-half up to and including the fourth hour, and double time thereafter until the starting time of the employees next regular shift. All Saturday work will be at the rate of time and one-half, Sunday work at the rate of double time. All holidays shall be paid at double time plus holiday pay, except employee’s birthday.

3) It is understood and agreed that second and/or third shift coverage is periodically required. Such requirements will be fulfilled by volunteers in the required classification or, if none, the junior employee(s) in such classification shall be assigned.

4) If called back to the shop after regular working hours, time and one-half shall be paid for work done, and in addition, the employee shall be paid time and one-half for one hour of travel time. Further, if an employee is called back to work after his regular working hours, he will be allowed to work his next regular shift.

5) Appendix “A” attached sets out the rates of pay for the first (day) shift. The second shift and third shift premium for each labor grade is also set out in Appendix “A”.

6) When it is necessary to work overtime in part of a section, the employee who is regularly assigned to the job shall have first preference to the overtime. If he refuses, the most senior employee in the section shall have the right of acceptance and so on down the seniority list. If overtime is refused by all employees in the section, then the overtime will be assigned to the most junior employee in that section.

When it is necessary to work a complete section on Saturday, the overtime becomes a work assignment if proper notice was given. When a section is scheduled to work more than eight (8) hours in any one day during the week an employee will be excused from doing such work if notice was not given in time. If proper notice was given, the employee may still decline and in such case the Company will attempt to find a qualified replacement. If no qualified replacement can be found, the employee may still be excused for justifiable reasons.

Notification for Saturday work will be given by the end of the employee’s Thursday shift. Notification for overtime through the week will be given the day before.

In the event overtime becomes a work assignment and the employee does not report for work, he may be subject to disciplinary action. Overtime and premium pay shall not be pyramided. Nothing in this agreement shall be understood to require payment of more than one premium for the same hours worked.

7) The Company will celebrate and will grant eight (8) hours pay to all employees having sixty (60) calendar days’ seniority at the employee’s normal rate of pay for the following recognized holidays:

New Year’s Day, Good Friday, National Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day Friday following Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Employee’s Birthday (See Paragraph 10) provided that the employee works the full scheduled work day both before and after the holiday. An absence or tardiness either the day before or the day after a holiday which is unavoidable or for good cause shall not prejudice any employee in regard to payment for said holiday. The Company reserves the right to check on the reason given by the employee and may request documentation. Holiday pay shall not be paid to employees laid off or those on a personal leave of absence. However, any employee who has performed work for the Company within the thirteen (13) week period immediately preceding a holiday and who is absent as a result of either an industrial injury incurred while in the Company’s employ and is receiving Workman’s Compensation or is receiving weekly sickness and accident benefits, shall be granted holiday pay.

9) A holiday which falls on Saturday will be observed on Friday. When such holiday falls on Sunday, it will be observed on the following Monday.
