Question - ABC Company uses standard costing for its single product. The standard cost to produce one unit of this product includes 9 direct labor hours of variable manufacturing overhead at $6 per hour.

During August, 6,400 units of this product were produced using 62,900 direct labor hours and incurring a total of $354,000 in variable manufacturing overhead cost.

Calculate the variable overhead efficiency variance for August. If the variance is favorable, place a minus sign in front of your answer (i.e., -5000). If the variance is unfavorable, simply enter your answer as a number (i.e., 5000).
