An electric motor is connected to a 12-V battery. The electric current to the motor is 3 A. 90 % of the electric energy from the battery is converted into mechanical work to mix an ideal gas in an adiabatic cylinder. The initial gas temperature is equal to 25 degrees C. The cylinder is closed at the top by a piston of 30-kg mass and 30-cm diameter. The piston moves without friction. The actual atmospheric pressure above the piston is 95 kPa. During 50 seconds of operation of the gas mixer the piston moves up by 10 cm. Assume that the product of mass and specific heat at constant pressure for the gas is mc     p = 350 J K-1.

a) Calculate the work of the expanding gas.

b) Calculate the final temperature of the gas.
