A wooden block of mass M = 0.170 kg is placed on a wooden inclined board 0.930 m long and raised to a height h1 = 0.050 m at the lower end and h2 = 0.080 m at the upper end (as shown below). The wooden block is connected to a hanging mass m through a frictionless pulley with negligible mass. There is friction between the wooden block and board. The system is initially at rest with m at y = 0.870 m, and gradually increased. When m = 0.073 kg, the block is pulled up the incline as m falls towards the floor.

(a) Draw the FBD of the block on the plane.

Calculate (b) the speed of m just before it strikes the floor;

(c) the coefficient of static friction between the block and the board;

(d) the change in the potential energy of the block;

(d) work done on the block by gravity;

(e) work done on the block by the normal force;

(f) work done on the block by frictional force.
