1. Calculate the weight of the column of air contained above a 1-m2 area of atmospheric air from sea level to the top of the atmosphere.

2. A 100 kg body falls from rest from a height of 100 m above the ground. Calculate its maximum velocity when it hits the ground. (a) Use the maximum value for gravity, (b) use the minimum value for gravity, and (c) use the standard value for gravity. (The minimum value is at the top of Mt Everest and the maximum value is at bottom of the lowest trench in the ocean.)
