1. Two speakers face each other and radiate coherently and in phase. The speakers are separated by a distance of 5.50 m and emit a sound with a frequency of 272 Hz. Use 340 m/s for the speed of sound in air.

(i) What is the wavelength of the sound?

(ii) You happen to be standing exactly half-way between the speakers. Will you have a loud maximum or a soft minimum?

(iii) How far do you need to travel to a speaker in order to have the sound change (i.e loud to soft or soft to loud)?

(iv) How many loud maximum intensity positions are there between the speakers?

(Hint - find the distance between one maximum and the next.)
